A mandala is an area to establish a sacred space for ritual that is circular. Pronounced “MUN-dah-lah”, one can be formed as groups of people, the sun, or cleansing rituals. In modern adaptations, a mandala can be a configuration of colourful shapes in the pattern to form a ‘japa’ - a meditative yoga practice including rotations and repetition to clear the mind of negativity and distraction.

We have your health goals in mind and aim to introduce you to concepts to help you evolve your practice and discover your true health. Mike Armstrong makes his incredible art from our studio and offers it to the world through teaching and by solo exhibition.

Mike is a 25-year BJJ pro, a conceptual teacher and an incredible creative artist. He's a deep analytical thinker who believes in the long-game. That mindful, safe, controlled and considered collaborative practice is how we grow and sustain ourselves. Mike is generous, intuitive and kind. His experience as a traditional artist and veteran balances his highly technical and playful approach.
Tracey is an authentic woman passionate about holistic health. She lives a holistic yoga lifestyle and offers complete yoga classes driven by purpose. Powerful, playful, confident and nurturing, Tracey feels deeply. She considers the energetic and physical effects of our choices and informs traditional yoga and ayurveda on and off the mat as a natural pathway to healing and true health.
Thomas is a senior educator who believes that self development and balance cultivates wellbeing. He's a gentle soul who cares deeply about the health of his community. Thomas has a unique BJJ teaching style after practicing martial arts most of his life including Goju Ryu Karate and Taekwondo. He offers detailed Rogue BJJ Canberra classes with inquisitive expertise and generous support.
Muriel is a dedicated yogini with a wealth of experience teaching flow, restorative and yin yoga. She has a kind, thoughtful nature and expresses this through her classes. Muriel believes in balanced practices that allow time for dynamic movement and quality rest. She understands energetics and consistently offers effective practices that encompass grounded presence and mature wisdom.
David is a curious and creative Brazilian jiu jitsu instructor. He has spent his career in BJJ being one of the smallest on the mat and as a result his understanding is highly technical favouring strong leverage and structure. David is a highly motivated, clever, funny and patient. He's generous with his knowledge and seamlessly links principles to techniques in his Rogue BJJ Canberra classes.
Tamsyn is a gentle space holder who invites you to drop the masks, personas, labels, or ego and meet yourself where you're at. She knows the human anatomy back to front with 20-years of osteopathic expertise. She's a beautiful soul who takes care of everybody in her yoga classes and guides effective practices filled with expert physical insight and devotional dedicated heart.
Mal is a centred man known for his traditional approach to yoga after his experiences in India. He's passionate about life's philosophies, nature and the seasons and teaches how we can control our wandering mind using ancient knowledge. Mal offers balance for the physical and mental stress we encounter in sports and life. He achieves this through a belief in the benefit of restful practices.
Radhika is a devoted and kind hearted Yoga Acharya. She has extensive teaching and coaching experience in Australia and India honouring the classical Hatha Yoga tradition of Swami Sivananda. Radhika is beautifully creative, intuitive and spiritual. She offers a time honoured systematic approach to her classes to help people improve their wellbeing and lead more fulfilling lives.
Squish is an adored part of our team. An English bulldog, he gets about town by Mike's side and happily greets everybody in Mandala Studio offering presence, play and comfort. He generates smiles everywhere he goes especially when he sleepily snores during yoga Canberra classes. In 2023 he was immortalised as the admired Rogue BJJ Canberra mascot.
